Over the last 6 months meetings have recommenced with GMPTE.

It now seems certain that the extension to Manchester Airport, which is routed around the edge of Sale golf course, will be built. The target completion date is the end of 2014. Construction work is expected to commence around SGC in 2012.

GMPTE have placed an order with a company called MPT to carry out design work. As a first step MPT will carry out ground investigations and ecology surveys over a two month period commencing in May.

Their investigations will be on or near the proposed metrolink line and thus should not interfere with play. It will be necessary however to close the old third practice hole for a few days.

MPT may erect a temporary building near the entrance to the golf club but this is not yet confirmed.
