Sale Players Shine at Cheshire Championships

Cath Rawthore and Gemma Clewes enjoyed a very successful County Championships at Delamere Forest last week. After 36 holes of strokeplay the top 16 scores go through to the matchplay knock out stage. It's a gruelling schedule and an excellent test of golf and, of course, stamina.

Cath, who plays off 2, reached the semi-finals and lost 1 Down in a nail-biting match to Jan Bell from Royal Liverpool.

Gemma, playing off 4, reached the quarter finals and lost to Sale team mate Cath.

The event was won by reigning champion Kate Whitmore(+3) from Mere GC.

To crown an excellent week, both Cath and Gemma have been selected to represent Cheshire in the forthcoming Northern Counties Championships in Carlisle in June.
