Green Staff get to grips with tree felling at the 1st Tee

I'm a Lumberjack and I'm OK

Bright and early on Thursday February 28th Chris and Roy embarked on another task that has been on the list for a long time. STRI who advise us on all matters concerning the Course have for some time been recommending the removal of the large Lime trees adjacent to the first tee. This should allow the condition of the tee to show a marked improvement over the coming years. The effect of shadow and more particularly the root spread from the Lime tree has meant that it has been starving the grass in that area of water and nutrition.

First the Manchester Poplars between the 1st and 2nd. Next the Limes. The dynamic duo are clearly beginning to get their eye in when it comes to felling trees. With a lot more Manchester Poplars to take down over the next ten years its certainly good news that inhouse we have the necessary expertise.
